On October 18, 2012, the entire student population of P.S. 54 participated in a school wide daffodil bulb planting ceremony. All students were able to plant at least two bulbs in memory of 9 /11 victims. Pre K through 5th grade students dug, planted and raked over the tree  pitts outside the school and in the surrounding community. The students were excited to raise awareness of their passion to protect and beautify the environment as they also established a 9 / 11 memorial.  New Yorkers for Parks (pictured above) provided the bulbs and tools and taught students how to plant. Students were excited to try a new hands on activity. Many children had never planted before and enjoyed getting dirty for a worthy cause.
