4th grader, Gjonzef Pllumajh, attended a special student workshop featuring special guest author / illustrator speaker, Pat Cummings.  This workshop focused on helping students develop their storyline and accompanying pictures for self-created books.  Students were exposed to creative ideas and shown how to tap into their own lives for inspiration. After the Q & A, all participating students were afforded the opportunity to present their drafts and illustrations to the entire group of teachers and students. Each young author received feedback and constructive criticism from Pat Cummings. The highlight of the evening was when Gjonzef shared his rough draft. He enlighted the audience by speaking in depth on Frank Llyod Wright.  Children were engaged and attentive and adults, in particular, were in awe of the way Gjonzef brought his subject to life with strong detail and voice.

5th graders also participated in an author study on Ezra Jack Keats. A twist was given to the traditional book review as students created MP3 file book talks. Click below to hear our 5th graders.
