The P.S. 54 Library Media Center is alive and thriving. Friday, January 4th, thirty two students well on their way to be Reading Ambassadors and one actual Reading Ambassador, Gjonzef from 4-407, had lunch with Principal Pardo. Reading Ambassadors are required to maintain a reading log, read 15 books both fiction and nonfiction ( which must be in five different Dewey decimal areas), write five “I read because…..” and write two book hooks for a fiction and a nonfiction book. Various incentives along the way include a reading button at 5 books, lunch with the principal at 7 books, a reading bracelet at 10 books and Reading Ambassadorship at 15 books. Being a full fledged Reading Ambassador entitles students to a golden ticket that gives them entrance to a Reading Ambassador Ball, a formal dance. The only staff and students permitted to attend this event are Reading Ambassadors. Staff are fiercely reading in order to keep up with students. Stay tuned……..
