Six Lion King Essay winners participated in an afternoon of beauty and magic as they discovered the wonders of Broadway. Students were in awe of the height and cleanliness of midtown Manhattan as they came out of the subway. They walked for what seemed to them like hours without end. They were in disbelief at the number of people rushing around and the constant activity. At Times Square, one of the 5th graders ran up to hug Mickey Mouse, who was hustling to take pictures for a fee with an interested parties. the Lion King was an incredible journey filled with amazingly beautiful and colorful costumes. The songs and dances the actors did were impressive especially since two of the actors were children for half of the play. PS 54 scholars acted as if they were transported into another world. Broadway was unbelievable! Thank you Target for supporting culture and providing this wonderful opportunity for our students!!!
