Richard Morano from the Cornell Cooperative Extension came to P.S. 54 to deliver a nutrition workshop to parents and students during the school’s annual Family Night. Students approached the table and were able to handle and interact with the food on my plate. Parents were able to see appropriate portions and serving sizes for both adult’s and children’s plates. Parents asked questions and listened intently as Richard discussed daily eating habits, mixing and matching food groups and ways to incorporate a variety of fruits and vegetables into meals.
