In coordination with National Princess Week, 1st and 2nd grade students participated in a Princess book club. Students read and responded to princess books and learned how to identify exemplary citizenship. As a culminating activity, students attended a Princess Day celebration on a Saturday morning. Real life beauty queen winner, Miss Sierra Leone NY 2011, Princess Tarawally, was the honorary guest speaker. She explained to the girls the four points of a princess’s crown: 1. service, 2. scholarship, 3. style and 4. success. Princess taught the girls how to carry themselves with grace, show kindness to others and to smile while under pressure. In addition, the girls had time to bond with their parents as they completed activities together. After lunch and princess cake, the P.S. 54 princesses were able to pose for pictures with Princess Tarawally.
