Whoever knew that composting would be such a sought after activity? The children absolutely love getting their hands dirty and love working. Special education students and several 5th graders weeded the garden. They swept the area of loose leaves and used old vines and stalks from the vegetables the school had grown over the summer. Children deposited the old dead and dying plant parts into the compost bin. They loved depositing worms left over from science projects into the composting pile. Children loved mixing the composting so that air can speed the deterioration. They had a ball being good citizens and cleaning up the garden. We can’t wait to see the compost pile in a couple of weeks!!!
