The P.S. 54 Library Media Center conducted a four week character development book club. Children read books about superheroes and identified superhero traits that are admirable and desired. Children practiced accountable talk and wrote essays about what makes a superhero. Incidentally, scholars determined that a superhero is committed to scholarship, service and style. As a culminating celebration, the school’s book club participants came out in superhero form to practice their new found superhero traits. Parents participated with their children in decorating “Save the Earth” flowerpots, making masks and peace sign key rings. See the fun we had below!!!
