Scholars always look forward to special days and events and the 100th Day of School is one of the most special days. To children, 100 is special since it is a landmark number and because they know the day will be filled with fun activities both in the classroom and by content specialists. In the Library Media Center, multiple classes came together to hear a read aloud about the a kindergarten class celebrating 100 and count out 100 edible items. Upper academy children scaffolded lower grades as scholars counted out 10 groups of 10. Children had to count marshmallows, peanuts, fruit loop cereal, cran-raisins, chocolate chips and popcorn into ziplock bags. Upon completion, scholars then had to recount their items before they were aloud to eat them to ensure that they had 100 in all.
